Welcome to another school year here at Riverside Primary. Hopefully you had a great summer and are excited to be back in school. Students at Riverside are on a five day enrichment rotation, which means they will have Physical Education once a week.
What is P.E?
Physical Education is the development of motor skills and movement patterns. Students will be introduced to a variety of skills and activities that promote a healthy lifestyle.
Dress
Students should dress appropriately for strenuous exercise, weather, and movement in physical education. Sneakers that cover the entire foot should be worn in P.E. Sandals, cleats, boots, slip-ons, heels, croc's, and shoes with wheels are not allowed in Physical Education class , for safety reasons.
Students move a lot in P.E, so shorts and a t-shirt are recommended. Girls should wear shorts under their skirt or dress. Failure to dress appropriately in P.E will result in the student sitting out of class, which can lower their grade.
Grading
Students will earn a grade in physical education. Students will be graded on the following content:
- Basic manipulative skills (catching, throwing, kicking, etc.)
- Basic locomotor skills ( skipping, running, galloping, etc.)
- Learning skills and behavior
- Participation
